Why You Deserve a Vineyard Wedding.

Let’s be honest, when you start planning a wedding, you spend a ridiculous amount of time looking at venues. And while there are a lot of beautiful spaces out there, when couples ask me what actually looks best on camera, I almost always point them toward the vineyards.

You deserve a space that breathes. Not a windowless banquet hall, but a venue that feels grounded and connected to the outdoors.

Last summer, I shot a wedding at Vieni Estates right here in the heart of Ontario’s wine country. It was the perfect example of how a venue can completely elevate the aesthetic and the energy of a wedding day, without trying too hard.

The Architecture: Earthy and Intentional

Arriving at Vieni Estates feels like a reset. The main space is this incredible, sprawling wooden barn, but it doesn't feel like a cliché rustic setup. It feels intentional. The rich wood tones throughout the space naturally warm up everyone's skin on camera, creating this really inviting, grounded atmosphere.

As a photographer, being in a space like this feels like half the work is already done. I’ve always believed that shooting in natural spaces is more of a collaboration than anything else. I don't have to manufacture a vibe or fake the warmth; I just have to pay attention to what’s already there. The architecture at Vieni naturally invites people to drop their shoulders, laugh a little louder, and actually enjoy the night.

The Glass Wall & Golden Hour

Light is literally everything in my line of work. And the best feature of the barn at Vieni Estates is its massive glass wall that opens right up to the vines.

During the reception, right as the sun started to drop, that glass wall was a game-changer. Golden hour light just poured into the room. It naturally silhouetted the guests, hit the dance floor perfectly, and wrapped the entire evening in this warm, cinematic look. You can't fake that kind of light with a flash. It’s just the earth showing off a bit, and as a photographer, you’re just lucky to catch it.

The Stone Fireplace: Anchoring the Room

Once the sun finally went down, the energy in the room shifted from bright and airy to incredibly cozy.

Directly behind the couple's sweetheart table was a massive stone fireplace. It completely anchored the room. Seeing them sitting there, sharing their first dinner together with a fire going behind them and the dark vineyards just outside the glass—it was just a really good, quiet moment in the middle of a loud day.

It provided this perfect contrast. The cool night air outside, and the warmth of the fire inside. Photographing them there was effortless. It stripped away all the typical wedding day stress and left room for just authentic, unguarded connection.

Preserving the Day

Your venue isn't just a backdrop. It dictates how your guests move, how the light hits you, and most importantly, how you feel.
